The ski resort of Alpe d’Huez

Skiing is the main activity at Alpe d’Huez : historically famous since Monsieur Pomagalski built the first ski lift ( “piste de l’éclose”), located exactly at the Alpe Express spot (the new gondola which will take you uphill everyday).

Alpe d’Huez includes Auris, Vaujany, Oz en Oisans and Villars Reculaz : over 200 kms of trails for skiing beginners or experts, not to mention legendary off-piste spots.

Alpe d’Huez is famous for la Sarenne, the longest ski slope in Europe (16 km), beloved by ski experts.

Your ski pass

We strongly recommend you order your ski passes on-line before your arrival to avoid long queues. If you order them 2 weeks in advance, you can have them delivered at home and save precious time. You can also pick up your passes at SATA lift ticket offices (located at the « rond point des pistes », at the mall “centre commercial des bergers” or at the tourism office “Office de Tourisme”.

Grandes Rousses Area – Red and black ski runs (confirmed level)

Easy to access from Les Bergers by taking « The Marmottes » 3 trails (Pic Blanc 3300 meters level). You have the choice between 4 different tracks to ski down 8000 meters as well as La Sarenne (16 kilometers) without any ski lifts.

Auris – (beginner/intermediate level)

Take the « Alp Auris » ski lift at Les Bergers. Enjoy the sunset and the view on the forest (Maronne) as well as a fun track (Les Bucherons).

Oz and Vaujany – (intermediate level)

Take the ski lift Les Romains at Les Bergers and cross down towards 2100 : breathtaking slopes and mountain views. Choose among several trails across the forest and discover pretty hidden villages. CAUTION : do not miss the last gondola or ski lift to return, if not you will need to take the bus (2-hour ride).

Snowmass Rif Nel – 2100 – Playground – Signal

The Signal Stadium faces the village and offers a wide snow mass which includes an easy and fun slope : « Marcel Farm ». Have fun and enjoy the view !

To reach the top of the Signal, avoid « Signal Telemix » with long queues. Take instead the Huez slope (the one that takes you home) and ski down until the old “Grande Sure” ski lift. Not very comfortable but fast !

When you reach the top of Signal, discover the area of Villard Reculaz : the tracks are very pleasant and take you back home easily.
