Your first concern when you arrive: fill the fridge. During the week, you will discover different shops and wine shops, especially Avenue des Jeux and the Old Alpe (neighborhood at the entrance of the resort, not to be confused with the village of Huez, below).
To make it simple and efficient, we recommend the nearest supermarket, you will find all the general food and necessary maintenance products as well as a butcher and a bakery.

This supermarket is less than 100m from the building: just go up the stairs to the right of the building. The store is located at the top of the stairs to the left.

Go shopping
Many multi-brand shops ready to wear, decorative objects and souvenirs await you at the Alpe d’Huez, mainly on the Avenue des Jeux and Avenue de l’Etendard, less than 200m from the apartment.
Other Activities
3 main spots are open all year :
- A heated outdoor swimming pool : located 150 meters from the apartment, take the righthand staircase and make a left on Avenue des Jeux.
- An outdoor ice-skating rink : also located at 150 meters from the apartment, take the righthand staircase and make a right.
- A sports center (palais des sports) : located at 250 meters from the apartment, low end of Avenue des Jeux. There is an indoor swimming pool, a fully equipped gym, a climbing wall, and fitness classes.

Tennis courts and golf courses are available in summer, located near the Altiport, beyond “Les Bergers” area.
At the other side of the village, after the « Rond Point des Pistes », there is a horse-riding club well equipped.
And don’t forget your running shoes : exit the building, turn right until you reach the « Rond Point des Pistes », and take the road that leads to the horse-riding club. Do not go down this road : go up until you reach the restaurant « La Plage des Neiges » and further until the Lake Besson. Enjoy the pristine view of this 10 km road (350 meters height).

Dining
You will have a wide choice among the hundreds of restaurants in the Alpe d’Huez village and on mountain, as well as catering and food delivery. Booking is strongly recommended ! The village and on mountain restaurants guide are available in town.

Le Dahu Grillé
Located 200 meters from the apartment. The owner, Rodolphe, is famous in Alpe d’Huez and quite a character ! Typical french mountain cuisine, busy place !

L’Altibar
The Altiport restaurant. Fine cuisine for a reasonable price. Walking access (through Les Bergers – 100 meters after the Club Med), by ski (via the Altiport chalets), or by free shuttle.

La Cabane
Great on-mountain restaurant, access via the Romains ski-lift (which departs from Les Bergers). Wide choice, large sundeck, lounge afternoon ambiance. Dinner available upon reservation (snow cat access) : a MUST !

La Plage des Neiges
Another on-mountain restaurant recommendation. The chalet is located on the 1968 Olympics Bobsleigh Track. Access by the DMC1, the ski lifts des Jeux (departing from the ski slopes roundabout) or the Romains (departing from Les Bergers).

Le Chalet du Lac Besson
A beautiful “chalet” in the middle of nowhere for a deep connection with mother nature. Excellent meat cooked by the fireplace. Beautiful sunny terrace. The house is open during summer season too, close to the Lac Besson (car park). Last but not least, you should not miss the night dinner (upon reservation) : The boss will drive you from the resort to the chalet and back with a snow groomer (funny experience by night).

Nightlife
Nightlife in Alpe d’Huez is full of opportunities ! Stroll around and choose your spot : wine bars, beer bars, 5-star hotel lounges, seasonal pop-up spots – get ready !
Below are some of our recommendations:
A combination of pizzeria, bar, lounge, disco – the place to be! (especially during the Comedy Film Festival). Walking distance from the apartment (take the staircase that leads to the ice-skating rink)
Night bar (on the ground floor) and night club (downstairs). 200 meters from the apartment, under the ski slope, next to the police resort.
L’Igloo
Located across the Caves de l’Alpe.
Relaxation: Le Spa des Alpes
Tip: We have negotiated a partnership with the spa « Le Spa des Alpes », located on the ground floor of the Hotel des Grandes Rousses, 200 meters from the apartment (walk up the small road on your right).
The Spa des Alpes opened end of 2018 and offers a wide range of high standard wellness options : a large pool, a sauna, a Turkish bath, an ice fountain, and à la carte treatments and massages.
Make sure you mention the password « Roche Lauvitel » : for a 20% discount on all treatments.

The Medical Center is located 200 meters from the building, on the ground floor of the Hotel Alp’Azur. Take the road on the right-hand side of the ski slope until you reach the intermediate lift resort.

Household Repair
If you need to change a bulb or to repair any household appliances, the store GONDOUX is at walking distance from the apartment, across the police station (walk under the ski slope for approximately 150 meters).
